Dr. Anthony Valentine

No services will be held.
Memorials in his honor can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or any historically black college or university of the donor’s choice.  
He was born in Port Au Spain, Trinidad, Dec. 8, 1957, son of Albert Valentine and Jocelyn Stevenson Valentine. Anthony was a graduate of Queen’s Royal College in Port Au Spain; Howard University in Washington, D.C.; Tufts University in Boston; and Meharry Medical College in Nashville, where he received his PhD in Biomedical Sciences.
Dr. Valentine had been employed as a researcher at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and University of Tennessee/VA Hospital in Memphis. He had also been employed at Southwest Community College in Memphis as an adjunct professor of biology.  
He was an avid lover of the sciences and research and enjoyed jazz music.
He is survived by his children, Gabrielle Antoinette Valentine of Memphis and Edmond Anthony Valentine of Union City; and his brother, Bryan Valentine of Port Au Spain.
He is also survived by his friend and loving caregiver, Lisa Mathena of Memphis.
