Margaret Davis

Services were 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memphis Funeral Home.
She was born in Jackson, Miss., daughter of the late Virginia (Sullivan) and Thomas W. Jernigan Sr.
She graduated from the former Memphis State University with a master’s degree and was a teacher for Memphis City Schools for 36 years. She was a member of Redeemer Evangelical Church, where she sang in the choir. She also served as state president of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority.
She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, retired Lt. Col. Joe Wheeler Davis.
She is survived by two daughters and her son-in-law, Denise Fachini and Michele and Greg Vailes; two sisters, including her twin, Martha Taylor, and Virginia Ann Jonson; her brother, Thomas Jernigan of Union City; six grandchildren, Gina Margaret Fachini, Cara Denise Weaver, Amy Michele Fachini, Ashlee Michele Vailes, Allison Virginia Vailes and Joseph Gregory Vailes; and five great-grandchildren.
