Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at East View Cemetery in Union City. Dr. Bobby Williams will officiate. There will be no visitation.
Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Oct. 23, 1930, in Union City, son of the late Boonie Eli and Leon (Smith) Roberts. He married the former Martha Davis Aug. 6, 1949. She survives. Mr. Roberts retired after 33 years of service with the City of Union City. He began his career as a police officer and then served as Obion County Civil Defense Director for over two decades. He was a member of Bethlehem Cumberland Presbyterian Church and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4862 in Union City.
He is also survived by two daughters, Glenda S. Killion of Obion and Rhonda Stewart of Union City; two grandsons and the spouse of one, Richard Arliss Sullivan of Obion and Brent Edward and Angela Marie Sullivan of Erie, Pa.; four great-grandchildren, Richard Arliss Sullivan Jr. of Obion and Charlie Edward Sullivan, T.J. Sullivan and Faith Marie Sullivan, all of Erie; and his sister, Patsy Scribner of Union City.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Roberts.
