Velma (Jett) Vaughn
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home in Plymouth, Mich.
The family will receive friends there from 1 p.m. until the hour of services Wednesday.
She was born Oct. 19, 1924, in Leachville, Ark., daughter of the late Charles E. and Margaret (Williams) Jett. She graduated from Starkweather High School, where she met her future husband, Kenyon G. Olds. They were married in 1942, and he passed away in 1973. In 1974, she married John R. Vaughn, who also preceded her in death in 2006.
She adored sunsets, walking on the beach, Key Lime pie and “Wheel of Fortune.” Other enjoyments in her life included sewing, cooking and going to casinos and the race track.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Judy and Walter Fitrzyk and Ken and Trish Olds; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Polly Jett of Union City; five nieces and nephews, Kaye McEwen and Paulette Jett, both of Union City, Perry Jett of Newbern, Philip Jett of Brentwood and Ronnie Jett of Paris; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her stepson, David Vaughn; and four brothers, Charles Jett Jr., Alvin Jett, Doyle Jett and Paul Nathan Jett.
