Bro. Hershel ‘Herbie’ McCant

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with Dr. Bobby Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Chris Long, Kenneth Brady, Mason Tate, Brent Carr, Billy Wallace and Kevin Kiekline. Honorary pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
He was born July 9, 1947, in Tiptonville, son of Sarah (Johnson) McCant of Union City and the late Hershel McCant. He married the former Yvonne Decine Long June 1, 1969. She survives. He had worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in final finish for 40 years and was a Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Harris Baptist Church, where he also preached.
He is also survived by three sons and his daughter-in-law, Dennis and Chanda McCant of New Albany, Miss., David McCant of Rives and Donnie McCant of Union City; three grandchildren, Sean McCant and Paige McCant, both of New Albany, and Ashleigh Newsome of Tiptonville; two great-grandchildren, Chloe Bryant and Jordan Bryant, both of Tiptonville; his brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Kathy McCant of Union City; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Wilma Long of Martin; and several nieces and nephews.
