Dick Brown
Services will be Saturday at 6 p.m. at White & Mahon Funeral Home in Troy, with Dr. Vann Kissell officiating.
The family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
He was born May 28, 1929, in Dundee, Mich., son of the late Carl and Pearl (Freedon) Brown. He married the former Joan Hickman Oct. 10, 1960. She survives. He worked for Tecumseh Products of Tecumseh, Mich., for more than 20 years and was a Merchant Marine for 1 1/2 years and a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War.
He attended Troy First Baptist Church and was a member of Troy Lion’s Club. He had been that organization’s district governor in 1994. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars of Brimley, Mich.
He is also survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Bonnie Hawthorne of Clarksville, Vicki and Charles Douglas of Hornbeak and Susan and Dennis Holdsworth of Brimley; his son, Richard Brown Jr. of Dorchester, S.C.; 13 grandchildren, Jason Hawthorne and Megan Hawthorne, both of Arizona, Emily Hawthorne and Andrea McGlinch, both of Clarksville, Sara Douglas of Rives, Susan Douglas and Christopher Douglas, both of Hornbeak, Daniel Holdsworth, Doug Holdsworth, Ryan Holdsworth and Justin Brown, all of Michigan, and Eric Brown and Andrew Brown, both of Florida; and five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his son, James Andrew Gera; and two sisters, Delores Cilley and Shirley Lightfoot.
