Carnell Flowers

Services were set for 2 p.m. today at White & Mahon Funeral Home in Troy, with Dr. Vann Kissell officiating, assisted by the Rev. Mitch Boulton. Burial was to follow in Terrace Hill Cemetery in Troy.
Pallbearers were to be Virgil Griffin, Aaron Eddlemon, Larry Farley, Channing McGee, William Smith and Odie Erwin Jr. Honorary pallbearers were to be Bobby Boane, Vernie Erwin, Lynn Jones, Glenn Rudd, Tim Simmons and Jimmy Hart.
He was born Jan. 5, 1926, in Obion County, son of the late William Robert “Bob” and Lemer (Ross) Flowers. He married the former Betty Eddlemon Jan. 15, 1955. She died July 12, 2009.
He was a sewing machine mechanic for the former Salant & Salant and the former Troy Manufacturing and had also worked in the maintenance department for the Town of Troy. He was a member of Troy First Baptist Church and Troy Community Club.
He performed on the radio in the 1950s with a band called Carnell Flowers and the Midsouth Playboys.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Terry McGee of Troy; his son and daughter-in-law, Kris and Teena Flowers of Troy; five grandchildren and their spouses, Channing and Shonna Erwin McGee, Kaylen McGee and Lauren Flowers McKee, all of Troy, Zach Brown of Obion and Issac and Brittney Brown of Dyersburg; five great-grandchildren, Kain McGee, Camden McGee and Hayden Flowers, all of Troy, and Forest Brown and Leeland Edwards, both of Dyersburg; and his brother, Wayne Flowers of Troy.
He was also preceded in death by his son, James Tyrone Flowers.
