Theresa Haddad

Theresa Simon Haddad, 74, went to be with our Lord on Sept. 8, 2013, after a hard-fought battle with ALS. Born in Hadchit, Lebanon, May 12, 1939, she immigrated to St. Louis in 1947. She graduated from and taught fourth grade at St. Frances DeSales Catholic School in St. Louis before marrying Jack Haddad in 1965 and settling in South Fulton.
Her life revolved around her husband, three girls, 13 grandchildren, to whom she was affectionately known as “Sitti,” and service to others. She retired from South Fulton Elementary School, where she worked as a dedicated teacher and educational assistant and touched the lives of numerous children especially those with special needs. She was active in the Tri County homemakers club and in her church where she served in leadership capacities in all areas including CCD, RCIA, Bible study, Eucharistic ministry and visiting the homebound and nursing home and hospital parishioners. She was a source of spiritual inspiration to so many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Loretta (Husnie) Simon and five siblings.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jack; daughters, Lori (Mike) Meredith of Paducah, Ky., Christy (Craig) Atwill of Union City and Jackie (Carlos) Parr of Milan; her brother, George (Marilue) Simon of St. Louis; brother-in-law, Sammy (Dorothy) Haddad of South Fulton; grandchildren, Michael, Josh, Luke, Emily and Jaclyn Meredith, all of Paducah, Matthew, Austin and Clare Atwill, all of Union City, and Jack, Sam, Kate, Ben and Jane Parr, all of Milan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Fulton, with burial to follow in the Greenlea Cemetery. Father Richard Meredith, Father Joosa Marydasan and Father John Meredith will officiate.
Visitation will be at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton from noon Thursday until 8 p.m.
A rosary service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
