’Jackets streak on; Westview splits

Greenfield’s girls’ tennis team just keeps on winning regular season tennis matches — the latest a 6-1 win over Milan on Friday to improve to 2-0 as a team. Both ’Jacket wins have been at Milan against the Lady Bulldogs.
Meanwhile, Westview split with Obion Central at the Obion County Fairgrounds tennis courts in Union City on Thursday. The Chargers won 4-3, while the Lady Chargers lost by the same score.
Greenfield wins
The Lady Yellowjackets No. 1 tennis player, Emily Allen, took down Milan’s No. 1, Haley Blakely, 8-0 in singles action on Friday.
Kalee Kesterson defeated Breanne Pierce 8-2 in the No. 3 spot while Kendal Cook lost to Angelica Littles 8-3 in the No. 2 spot.
Callie Croom and Lauren Rush had an easy day as both won by default.
The team of Allen and Croom defeated Blakley and Littles 8-3 in a match between the two No. 1 doubles teams. Cook and Kesterson won their doubles match by default.
Westview splits
The Charger boys won three times in singles matches, while both the boys and girls earned splits in doubles competition.
Ethan Plunk defeated Dallas Mathis 8-5 in the boys’ No. 1 match.
Mason Capps downed Mason Warren in the No. 4 spot and Ethan Batchelor defeated Jeremy Nichols 8-1.
Don McDonough and Batchelor took care of Dalton Edmaiston and Nichols 8-2 in doubles, while Plunk and Capps lost to Austin Riley and Mathis 8-4 in the No. 2 spot in boys’ doubles.
Laura Ferrer defeated Lindsay Castlellaw 8-1 in the girls’ No. 1 spot in singles action.
Jasmine Evans lost to Marissa Howard 8-1, while Jessica Evans lost to Mallori Conley 8-5. Annbelle Cormia took care of Central’s Breanna Stephenson 8-5, and Natalie Hurst lost to Shelly Pate 8-6.
Evans and Evans defeated Pate and Conley 8-4 in doubles while Ferrer and Hurst lost to Howard and Castellaw 8-6.
