Union City police are investigating a report that a local man was robbed of cash early Saturday while walking in the western area of the city.
Rickey Moulton of 2029 Phebus Lane, Union City, told police he was walking on Phebus Lane from AAA RV Park toward Express Shop on West Reelfoot Avenue when the incident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday, according to a Union City Police Department report.
He told police a purple Dodge Caravan came toward him and went past him. When it went past him, an unknown man allegedly got out of the van and told him not to turn around, further instructing him to throw his wallet behind him and allegedly making a threat to shoot him if he turned to look.
Moulton said he did as he was requested and the man got back into the van, which headed south on Phebus Lane to Walker Tanner Road and turned left toward Old Rives Road, according to the report.
Moulton’s leather wallet was stolen in the incident. It contained cash, as well as his driver’s license and some pre-paid cards with no money on them, police reported.
