An African percussion master class will be offered to students and community members at 2 p.m. March 22 in room 112 of Boling University Center on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Martin.
Dr. B. Michael Williams, a guest instructor, will conduct the class.
Williams is the professor of music and director of percussion studies at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C. He earned a bachelor of music degree from Furman University, a master of music degree from Northwestern University and a doctorate of music from Michigan State Uni-versity.
He has made scholarly presentations on African music and has also composed works for marimba ensemble.
The event is free and open to the public.
