Annual fund raiser slated for March 23

Community members have teamed up and are busy planning the 9th annual Taste of Weakley and Obion Counties Gala and Auction.
The event, scheduled for March 23, raises money to benefit the local Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse, which serves Weakley and Obion counties.
With the sports theme of “Team Up Against Child Abuse,” the gala will feature a night of sports games, music, auctions and plenty of tailgating cuisine.
Guests are being encouraged to dress for the sports theme.
Each year, local restaurants generously offer an abundance of their delicious food during the night inside the Volunteer Distributing Company on Highway 22 in Dresden.
Items for the silent and live auctions have been donated from local businesses. A sample of the auction items includes tickets to both UTM football and basketball games, a basketball signed by Pat Summit, a Tennessee Titans board signed by all 2012 players, a Cub Cadet RT 35 Tiller, Memphis Grizzlies tickets, catered dinners, jewelry and a slew of other sports memorabilia.
Individual tickets are $35 each, or reserved tables seating eight people are available at the center’s office at 111 Oxford St. in Martin.
Business sponsorships are table reservations are available at several price levels, including $300 (Gala Sponsor), $650 (sponsor a child for a year) and $1,000 (sponsor a family for a year).
For more information, call the center at (731) 587-0768 or by email at weakley@carlperkinscenter.org.
