The Messenger, March 4, 2013 The Obion County Tea Party will be giving away an iPad mini to an Obion County student from one of the area high schools, a homeschooler or a private school who attends the group’s next meeting. The guidelines for the contest call for the attendance of at least 10 students from each area high school or a total of 50 students, including homeschooler and private school students, who will be treated as one category of school, at the meeting. If the attendance goals are not met, the contest will continue at subsequent meetings until those goals are met. Homeschoolers and private school students are reminded to bring some form of school identification or a letter from school officials testifying to their enrollment, a spokesman said. Greater participation from any school increases the probability that a student from that school unit will win. At the close of the session, students will be chosen randomly, with each educational unit represented by at least one student, to participate in a brief question and answer competition to determine the winner. Selection will be based pro rata, according to the representation size from the school unit. Students are encouraged to take part in this opportunity to learn more about their nation’s government, to become involved in the political process and to have the opportunity to win this exciting prize, a spokesman said.
