Completed arrangements are being announced for Mary Jane (Forrester) Mathis, 71, of Rives, who died Feb. 26, 2013, at her home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with Dr. Vann Kissell officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Rives.
The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Keith Forrester, Andy Forrester, Dillon Mathis, Tyler Smith, Joe Clanton, Jason Dorne and Gary Fowler. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Class of 1959 at the former Rives High School.
She was born Nov. 29, 1941, in Obion County, daughter of the late Alf and Ernestine (Smith) Forrester. She married David Lee Mathis Dec. 26, 1956. He died Nov. 9, 2009.
She was a retired teacher’s aide for the Obion County School System, where she worked for 22 years at the former Rives School and at Ridgemont Elementary School.
She was a member of Troy First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Donnie Amell of Union City; two sons and her daughter-in-law, Curtis and Julie Mathis of Union City and Kent Mathis of Dyersburg; five grandchildren and the spouse of one, Britney and Donny Scott of Scott’s Hill, Chelsey Mathis and her fiancé, Tyler Smith, of Martin, Lindsey Mathis and her fiancé, Gary Fowler of Dyersburg, Dillon Mathis of Troy and Jacob Amell of Union City; four great-grandchildren, Braydan Cottrell and Kylen Scott, both of Scott’s Hill, Baylee Grace Fowler of Dyersburg and Annslee Smith of Martin; her sister-in-law, Laverne Forrester of Rives; and another sister-in-law and her husband, Sherry and Johnny Dorne of Nashville, Ind.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Alpha Mae Witherspoon and Narene Gibson; and three brothers, Paul Forrester, Otho Forrester and David Forrester.
