Bobby Joe Moore has operated his family-owned business in Fulton for the past 68 years, and has now opened a second store in downtown Union City.
Noffel’s Department Store has opened at 125 South Depot St. and is open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturdays. The local store opened earlier this month and is managed by Moore.
The telephone number for the store is 885-3200.
The department store carries big and tall jeans and is able to order special sizes at no extra charge for those sizes not in stock. The store also carries a variety of shoes and clothing for men and women, including such brand names as Dan Post boots, Converse, LaCrosse chest waders, Carhartt, Levi’s, Wigwam socks, Irish Setter and Redwing.
“Noffel’s is a well-known business in the surrounding area,” Moore stated. “It has been a family-owned business in the downtown Fulton, Ky., area for 68 years and is known for being the No. 1 Red Wing Shoes dealer from Paducah (Ky.) to Hickman (Ky.) as well as in Union City, where Noffel’s served the Goodyear tire plant with their boots and shoes for work.
Moore said his business has supplied such other clients as the Fulton/South Fulton Public Works Department, utility companies in the South Fulton/Fulton area, the Fulton County Detention Center, Griffin Industries and Ingram Barge Co. Noffel’s can also get uniform and tactical boots for law enforcement officials, according to Moore.
“Noffel’s is very excited to bring some of what we have to Union City and Obion County for the working men and women in this area,” Moore said. “I grew up in the Obion and Rives area. I am proud to open a business here in the Obion County area. I believe that Noffels will be a very good thing for Union City just like it is for Fulton.”
