A joint effort between Union City and Jackson police led to a Jackson man being arrested Thursday in connection with a Wednesday night break-in at a Union City residence.
Keith Emmanuel Roberson, 29, of 504 Daugherty St., Jackson, was arrested at noon Thursday at his home on charges of aggravated burglary and theft over $1,000, according to a Union City Police Department report.
The charges stem from a burglary discovered shortly before midnight Wednesday at Rhonda Koon’s apartment at 711 West Washington Ave. in Union City, where over $3,000 worth of electronics, jewelry and other items were stolen by an intruder.
An outstanding effort by Union City police patrol officers and the local department working in conjunction with Jackson police resulted in the arrest of the suspect so quickly, a police investigator said this morning. A Jackson police investigator had been contacted by Union City police PFC Chucky Moran in regard to the missing property allegedly being in Roberson’s possession at an address in Jackson.
Jackson police went to Roberson’s residence and allegedly found him in possession of all but two of the items reported as stolen from the Union City residence. The two items still not recovered include a television and a WiFi card.
Jackson investigators took Roberson into custody and he was held at the Madison County Jail until he was picked up about noon Thursday by Moran and Union City police patrol officer trainee Ja’ Key.
