MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (AP) — A southeastern Kentucky school district is considering a request to allow high school students to bring their own technology, such as smartphones or tablets, into the classroom to work on assignments.
The Middlesboro Daily News reports Pineville teacher Matthew Shafer presented the idea at a meeting of the Pineville Independent Board of Education.
“It has worked really well in my classroom,” Shafer said. “I’ve never had my kids more engaged in research than when they’ve had it on their phone.”
Pineville principal Bill Keyes and two students also spoke in favor of allowing personal devices to be used.
