Union City police charge Greenfield man with robbery

A Greenfield man and his alleged accomplice have been charged following an alleged robbery Tuesday night in Union City.

Jared Grant Taylor, 23, of 311 Stafford Store Road, was arrested at 10:35 p.m. and charged with aggravated robbery, according to a Union City Police Department report.

Also charged was Robert E. Lee Gordon III, 30, of Union City.

The charges stem from an alleged incident reported about 9:30 p.m. at 704 South Third St., where police responded to a complaint of someone allegedly having a gun pulled on him and being robbed.

The victim, 24-year-old Daniel A. York, claimed Taylor and Gordon had come into his residence and asked if they could hang out with him for a while. York told police he was sitting down when Taylor and Gordon allegedly stood up over him and stated they were going to take all of his money, according to the report.

York told police he tried to reach for his phone to call police, but he alleged Gordon grabbed the phone from him and said he was going to split his head open. York claimed Gordon smacked his head around and told Taylor to pull out his .38 handgun and put it to York’s head. York said he felt something cold like metal pressed against his head, and he alleged Gordon stated if he told anyone about the incident that he was going to kill him.

According to the report, York told police Taylor and Gordon took $150 off the coffee table, as well as two beers, and walked out.

After York had spoken with police, he called the police station shortly after 10 p.m. and said Taylor and Gordon had come back to his residence and were standing outside. Police responded and arrested both of them.

During a search of Taylor’s vehicle, police found a beer box with two beers inside.

Both suspects were taken to the Obion County Law Enforcement Complex following their arrests.
