Some local schools are ready to use buckets to help save lives in emergency situations.
The Critical Incident Bucket – CIB, for short – is a 5-gallon bucket stationed in every classroom at Westview High and Martin Middle, Elementary and Primary schools.
If the schools were evacuated or put on lockdown, the buckets would provide portable, easily-accessible emergency kits containing safety items for a critical incident. The buckets could also double as portable potties, according to a press release.
The program was started to better equip each teacher and classroom with needed items in the event of an emergency situation.
The program started during the 2011-12 school year at Westview. It extended to all Martin schools with help from local civic organizations, local businesses and donations from private individuals.
Contributing businesses and civic organizations include Martin Anchor Club, Martin Rotary, Martin Walmart, Martin Rural King, Cardon Locksmith Service and Parham Law Office. Published in The WCP 2.7.13
