Westview is standing pat.
After weeks of moving up — then down — the Associated Press Class AA girls’ basketball poll, the Lady Chargers have held the same spot for a second straight week.
Westview is again ranked No. 5 in the poll, voted on by member sports writers and broadcasters and released Monday afternoon. The Lady Chargers fell to that spot last week following a loss to fellow District 13AA leader Covington.
That other Lady Charger team held its spot, too, staying put at No. 2.
Also staying in its place is top-ranked and unbeaten Grainger (26-0) with all 19 first-place votes.
Westview improved to 23-3 last week with a pair of wins. The squad closes its season this week with a trip to Obion Central tonight and a home date against Crockett County on Friday.
All of the top six teams in Class 2A stayed the same as last week with McMinn Central ranked third, Cannon County at No. 4 and Livingston Academy again rated sixth.
There was some shake-up at the bottom of the poll, though, as CPA is now seventh and Creek Wood is eighth after the two were tied at No. 8 last week, while Elizabethton is up a spot to No. 9 and Gatlinburg-Pittman enters the poll at No. 10. Published in The WCP 2.5.13
