’Jackets’ 14A stock drops due to losses

Both Greenfield teams took a step back in the District 14A standings after getting swept by Humboldt Tuesday night.
The Lady Yellowjackets (13-8, 8-5) were upset by the Lady Vikings (5-16, 2-9) 45-38 after Humboldt grabbed an early lead.
The Yellowjackets (14-6, 9-4) lost to the Vikings (16-5, 7-4) 66-51 after Humboldt heated up its shooting in the third quarter.
Greenfield is at Union City on Friday where the Lady ’Jackets will hope to upset the No. 1-ranked Lady Tornadoes and the ’Jackets will be thinking about beating the No. 6-ranked Tornadoes for the second time this season.

The Lady Vikings never trailed once Humboldt built up an early with an 18-11 first quarter.
Greenfield held Humboldt to four points in the second period, but the Lady Yellowjackets could not take advantage with only six points in the period.
Humboldt extended its lead to 35-26 with a 13-9 third period.
Brittany Peoples led the Lady ’Jackets with 19 points.
Alle Dees tossed in eight points and Aubrey Riggs added six. Breuna Lenon scored a game-high 21 for Humboldt.

The Yellowjackets and Vikings battled to a 14-all tie in the first period, but then the Vikings got hot late in the second period to pull out in front 32-25 at the half.
Humboldt remained hot to start the third period, increasing its lead to 10 within the first three minutes of the period.
The Vikings outscored Greenfield 21-15 in the third to lead 53-40 going into the final period.
Greenfield was led by Tony Robinson’s 12 points. Hunter Crouse added 10 and Tyler Hoke tossed in 9. Published in The WCP 1.31.13
