‘Return’ planned in SF
South Fulton Baptist Church will hold “A Return to Holiness” meeting Feb. 10-13, with featured speakers including Fred Luter, president of the Southern Baptist Convention and pastor of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans, scheduled to speak Feb. 12 at 7 p.m.

LifeBeat banquet set
LifeBeat Pregnancy Center’s 2013 fund-raising banquet will be Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. at Second Baptist Church in Union City.
The special speaker will be Steven Lester, dean of faculty with the Great Turnaround. He is the former creative director of Turner Broadcasting Network.
Those who would like to attend are asked to call (731) 253-7222 to RSVP.  Seating is limited so plans should be made right away, a spokesman said. 
“The theme of the banquet will be New Beginnings and we have a lot to share about how God is opening new doors of opportunity for LifeBeat,” a spokesman said.

Nichols to serve
Oak Street Community Presbyterian Church, located at the corner of Miles Avenue and Oak Street in Union City, is announcing that the Rev. Larry Nichols of Union City will be serving as the congregation’s interim pastor.
Nichols is a native of Union City and is married to Barbara (Hays) Nichols, also a resident of Union City since 1964. He was pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church in the Crystal Community for 21 years and is well known in the community. Ordained to preach from First Baptist Church of Union City, he delivers a very Christ-led dynamic message each and every Sunday, a spokesman said.
Oak Street Community Presbyterian Church is an excited, imperfect and relaxed congregation of local residents from various religious backgrounds. Worship services are held each Sunday morning at 10:30, beginning with lively music led by Calvin Cary and Linda Hudson, along with Kenny Stowell on lead guitar, Gary Bradley on bass guitar and Roy Griffith on keyboard.
The congregation invites all of Rev. Nichols’ friends and acquaintances to visit whenever possible and reminds others that they are always ready to welcome everyone and hope to be considered when anyone is looking for a church home.
“We have an excited, come-as-you-are atmosphere,” a spokesman said.

To sell plate lunches
Friendship Free Will Baptist Church will sell plate lunches Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m., at 1304 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Union City.
The menu will feature catfish, fried chicken, slaw, potato salad, white beans and cornbread for $7 and $6. Desserts will be sold separately, a spokesman said.
