Betty Rose (Ransom) Gilliland, 81, of Union City died 1:40 p.m. Jan. 30, 2013, at Union City Manor Nursing and Rehab.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home, with the Revs. Chip Davis and Jerry Leggett officiating.
Burial will follow in Cobbs Chapel Cemetery in the Shawtown community.
Visitation will be held noon until 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Allen Smith, Carl Smith, Mike Ellis, Anthony Powell, Tommy Gilliland and Jimmy Gilliland.
She was born Sept. 11, 1931, in Obion County, daughter of the late Ollie Marvin Ransom and the late Nannie Jane (Simpson) Johnson. She married James Carl “J.C.” Gilliland May 27, 1946. He died March 13, 2010. She was retired as a human services employee for the State of Tennessee. She was a member of Lake Road Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Smith Wiggins of South Fulton and Diana Gilliland of Union City; her son and daughter-in-law, James and Phyllis Gilliland of the Shawtown community; nine grandchildren, Jimmy Gilliland, Kenny Gilliland, Tammy White and Cheryl Brinkley, all of Union City, Tommy Halliburton of Troy, Laura Ellis of Dresden, Susan Powell of Birmingham, Ala., Allen Smith of Martin and Carl Smith of Fulton; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James Ransom and Jack Ransom; her son, Billy Carl Gilliland; and her granddaughter, Tina Moore.
