 Alisha Weber | | | By KEVIN BOWDEN Staff Reporter Alisha Weber has been named the new park manager at Reelfoot Lake State Park, effective Monday. She succeeds former park manager James Cox, who retired this past November after 40 years of service with the Tennessee State Parks system. Ms. Weber comes to Reelfoot Lake from Natchez Trace State Park, where she served as the park’s interpretive specialist. She has served the state parks department for more than 14 years, including a stint at Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park. “At Natchez Trace, she built a resumé of achievement across an increasing set of responsibilities, including park rehabilitation projects, environmental education programs, staff and seasonal employee supervision and service as the park’s safety officer,” deputy commissioner Brock Hill said. “Alisha is well known in the community for her outreach and outdoor classroom programming targeted at families, children and women. She has been instrumental in establishing very successful junior ranger camps, the traveling nature center and nature for women programs at Natchez Trace.” Throughout her career with Tennessee State Parks, Ms. Weber also served on the department’s horse mounted patrol and search and rescue team. Ms. Weber earned a bachelor of science degree in wildlife biology at the University of Tennessee at Martin and completed an internship with Indiana State Parks at Tippecanoe River State Park. She is active in her community as a Cub Scout leader, Girl Scout leader and leader for a Boy Scouts of America venturing crew.
