Obama’s actions very disturbing To The Editor:
After hearing the news the United States is sending 16 fighter jets and more tanks than our own Marine Corps has to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, whose leader is Mohamed Morsi, a known terrorist and dictator, I almost lost my lunch. This is the same person that refers to the Israelites as blood-suckers, war mongers and the descendants of apes and pigs. Any president that supports a known terrorist or a questionable one with war supplies should be charged with treason. It boggles my mind that we allow candidates to be elected to the highest office in the world and not having to take a very rigid background check.
It also disappoints me that our first black president brought so much negative baggage with him. There is no doubt that he is very bright, but his ideologies have been formed by numerous questionable associates and not by loving parents. He was abandoned by his parents at an early age, but he was still, somehow, able to attend some of the best schools in the world. During his school years he associated himself with a lot of Pakistani friends including his roommate. He also went to Pakistan with some of the those friends in the early 1980s. I’m sure he did well in school but can’t verify it because he sealed his records and will not open them.
The first time I heard of Barack Obama was at the 2004, I believe, Democratic National Convention as the keynote speaker. When he quit being a community organizer and started campaigning to become a senator is when the real Obama came to life.
His mentor for 20 years, Jeremiah Wright, is a radical, anti-white, preacher that damned America on national television. Strangely, he became rather quiet after that. Another radical he denied association with was Bill Ayers, the man that founded the “Weather Underground,” a radical organization that bombed the U.S. Capital, the Pentagon, and several other public buildings. He never spent a day in jail because the FBI, I understand, did something illegal and had to drop the charges against him.
Barack Obama also said he became a Christian but his actions certainly do not coincide with any Christian I have seen in at least the last 70 years. Bowing to the Saudi King, a sigh of inferiority, and joining the Muslims in a day of prayer after he cancelled our Christian, National Day of Prayer the year before.
This president also told us he was going to bring us all together and be very open, but what did we get. We are more divided now than ever in my lifetime, and all his decisions are made behind closed doors. He was going to cut our national debt but instead he added another five and a half trillion to it in four years and said the issue is non negotiable. He also touted how much he has done with the immigration problems but more than 115,000 Muslims became U.S. citizens in 2009. I am all for legal immigration, and we have some very good, hardworking neighbors at our southern border, but we need control as to who and how many come in. It costs an estimated $113 billion a year just to maintain the illegals over here. This is incomprehensible when our national debt is bulging.
This country can’t survive with this president at the helm. I personally believe that his goal is to destroy our country. He can do it just by following what he did in the first four years, keep increasing the national debt, pardon all the illegal immigrants and supply radical Muslims with weapons of war. He could do it without ever firing a shot.
Watch for these issues and respond if they increase.

rekindles faith
To The Editor:
On Dec. 19, 2012, I was in town shopping before Christmas, because I was leaving on Friday, Dec. 21, for Indiana for two weeks. My friend and I stopped in Dollar Tree to pick up three items.
While I was in line to check out, there was a little black older lady. I think she said she was in her 70s. She had four items: a can of sweet potatoes, a Christmas card, an aluminum pan and one other item. She opened her little purse and all that was in it was a baggy of change. Without even thinking, I told the cashier to add the lady’s things to mine. The lady turned to me and said, “Are you for real?” She reached into her little purse and started to pick at her change. I just put my hand over hers and I said, “Yes ma’am, Merry Christmas.” This lady started saying, “This does not happen to me, I have been a praying woman all my life, this can’t be real.”
I paid the bill and she walked out with me, and when we got outside, she said her kids were coming in from out of state for Christmas and they just wanted her to fix sweet potatoes and greens. Then she dropped to her knees praising God and thanking Him for sending her an angel.
I reached under her arms to help her up and she said, “What is your name?” I told her “Patsy” and asked her for her name. She said, “Mary, like the mother of Jesus.”
Something like an electrical current shot through my body, and she turned and put her hand on my cheek and said, “I am blessed today,” and I told her, “I am the one that is blessed.” She went and got into a small red car and something in my heart told me to give her the cash that I had in my pocket, so I went over to the car and handed her $20 and she just cried and cried. I was humbled by this experience. What was really nothing ($4) to me made such a big difference for her.
The experience changed me totally. I have thought of this woman every day since it happened and prayed for her. I feel this need to find her, just to be her friend. I have made several trips back to the Dollar Tree and prayed for God to let us cross paths again.
I realized I had gotten lazy in my faith, but I just cannot get this lady off my mind. I don’t know how to go about finding her. There was a lady that walked by us and spoke and Mary said it was the lady from her bank. I don’t know any more about her or how to find out. I would love to find her. It is hard to describe, but what went on between us was the grace of God.

gun problem
To The Editor:
I am a gun owner but not a gun fanatic. I own guns and can hit my target but am not excessively enthused about guns. For me, they are tools.
I have friends who are gun fanatics. Please allow me to describe a gun fanatic. He owns several guns, but he does not just own them; he studies them. He does not have to read the engraving on the side to know if the gun is a Ruger or a Remington. He does not just look at a gun; he holds it; he wants to feel the weight and test the balance. He does not just clean his guns; he takes all of the pieces apart to inspect and oil each part. He then reassembles the gun and polishes it; it is a cherished possession — not unlike the arrowheads or coins collected by other friends. His guns are all sighted in perfectly, and he knows each gun, its range and accuracy and that the weather can alter these. He appreciates the workmanship that went into building a gun, and he is intensely curious about the scratches and wear on a used gun.
Most of my fanatic friends are also hunters. They do not hunt for trophies but for meat. They feed their families, and many give to others who are in need. They hope to never point a weapon at another human being, but they know with certainty that they can protect their loved ones. I believe most would protect a stranger, as well.
Perhaps these gun fanatics would be willing to give up some rights if they believed it would make society better, but we can look to other countries who have already tested this to see that it does not work. What we have in the USA is a heart problem, not a gun problem. Guns will not fix heart problems, but neither will gun restrictions.
