Grand jury convenes Monday | | Posted: Wednesday, January 30, 2013 8:58 pm
| By CHRIS MENEES Staff Reporter It’s grand jury time. The Obion County grand jury will convene Monday at the county courthouse to hear allegations of criminal activity to determine if charges should be levied by indictment. Many of the cases to be heard by the grand jury have been bound over or waived from General Sessions Court in recent months since the panel last convened in October 2012. The county’s grand jury regularly convenes three times a year — on the first Mondays of February, June and October — to determine if indictments should be handed down. A list of grand jury indictments will be published in The Messenger next week, once it is released by Circuit Court Clerk Harry Johnson. The only exceptions will be any indictments which are sealed, or secret, pending the arrests of those charged, and those indictments are disclosed once arraignments are held. Those indicted will be arraigned the following Monday, Feb. 11, in Circuit Court. Published in The Messenger 1.30.13 | | | |
