Two people were charged with drug offenses Monday night after Weakley County sheriff’s deputies located a meth lab.
Bradley Stenberg, 33, and Bobbie Jean Stanford, 41, were arrested Monday evening on charges of promotion of methamphetamine, initiation of meth manufacture and possession of methamphetamine, according to a Weakley County Sheriff’s Department news release.
The charges were levied after sheriff’s deputies located a meth lab in and around the Shades Bridge Road residence where the two suspects were staying in Weakley County.
Sheriff’s investigator Randall McGowan reported the discovery marks the ninth meth lab or meth lab dump site the sheriff’s department has cleaned up in January alone. In all of 2012, the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department’s criminal investigation division cleaned up and reported 24 meth labs and meth lab dump sites countywide to the Tennessee Meth Task Force.
McGowan noted the recent numbers are significant increases from 2011 — when only four labs were located in the county and reported. The suspected reason behind the increase in labs is the “shake and bake” cooking method, he said.
