Check detectors often

The Union City Planning & Codes Department, as well as the Union City Fire Department, wants to remind area residents to check smoke detectors often to ensure they are operating properly. Local codes require a smoke detector on each floor, in each sleeping room and just outside the sleeping rooms.
Remember, smoke detectors can save a life, a spokesman said.
