UT schedules boot camps for farmers market vendors Posted: Tuesday, January 22, 2013 8:00 pm From AP, staff reports The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture is holding boot camps to help people who sell farm products at farmers markets be more effective. The seminars are aimed at helping vendors better understand how to market their produce and how to address certain business issues. The curriculum is a collaboration of the UT Center for Profitable Agriculture and the Tennessee Department of Agriculture. The Center for Profitable Agriculture is a joint effort of UT Extension and the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation. There will be six of the daylong camps: Feb. 11 in Bolivar, Feb. 12 in Dresden, Feb. 18 in Cookeville, Feb. 19 in Spring Hill, March 4 in Knoxville and March 5 in Kingsport. The workshops will begin with registration at 9 a.m. and teaching sessions will begin promptly at 9:30. The workshops will conclude around 2:30 p.m. The sessions are free, but preregistration is required at least five days prior to the workshop.
