Union City native Kevin Bartholomew has been named a career counselor at The Career Solutions in Union City.
Bartholomew is a 1999 graduate of Union City High School.
He studied communications at Middle Tennessee State University and spent several years in management in the retail and banking sectors.
He returned to his hometown a few months ago and was hired by Goodwill as the career counselor at the Union City Career Solutions.
Since being hired by Goodwill, he has already assisted dozens of people in their search for work, according to a Goodwill news release.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the community that helped shape the first 18 years of my life,” Bartholomew said.
Career Solutions offers free one-on-one job training and placement services to people who need help getting a job. Goodwill clients are taught computer basics, resume writing and online job search skills.
Most of the services offered through Career Solutions are free, courtesy of the generosity of Goodwill’s donors and shoppers. About 80 percent of the funds used to deliver Career Solutions services are generated through the sales of items donated to Goodwill.
By the end of 2012, the 20 Career Solutions located throughout Middle and West Tennessee will have served about 16,000 people. More than 3,100 of those clients have landed a job. The majority were placed outside of Goodwill with one of the more than 1,200 area employers actively hiring Career Solutions clients.

For more than 55 years Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee has provided employment and training opportunities for people who have disabilities or other barriers to employment through the sale of donated items.
