Donald David “Don” Ruth, 91, of Hornbeak died at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt Jan. 10, 2013, at 4 a.m.
Services will be at Oak Ridge Church of Christ near Hornbeak at 2 p.m. Sunday. Rick Knoll will officiate and burial will follow in Hornbeak City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at White & Mahon Funeral Home in Troy. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
The family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
He was born Sept. 3, 1921, in Lucerne, Penn., son of the late Warren and Catherine (Sheridan) Ruth. He married the former Karneese Cain in 1945. She survives. He was a printer at the U.S. Treasury Department, working for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing for 20 years. A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he was a member of Oak Ridge Church of Christ and the American Legion.
He is also survived by his son, Kenneth Ruth of Hornbeak; four grandchildren, Sheril Carey of Columbus, Ohio, Kirk Childress of Houston, Sam Ruth of Nashville and Jess Ruth of Glen Burnie, Md.; five great-grandchildren; and his stepdaughter, Teal Ford of Martin.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Karneese Childress, and nine brothers and sisters.
