Lael SS Class has meeting Posted: Thursday, January 10, 2013 6:00 pm The Messenger, January 10, 2013 Members of Lael Sunday School Class met recently at the family life center at First Baptist Church in Union City. Dorothy Rasberry opened the meeting with prayer and then members named those that need prayers for grief over a loved one and for those who are sick or are facing surgery. Dot Capps lead in prayer for those needs. The class project for the month is to assist a family whose house burned. Ms. Rasberry gave a devotional taken from Matthew 11:30 with the theme “My burden is light.” She said a father and his son, Harrison, were going across a very steep and rocky road to a safe home in Zimbabwe. The home was for newly orphaned children. He approached an old woman carrying a load of wood on her head and asked if he coud help her. As it turned out, the load was so heavy that it took both of them to carry it. Inside his heart, however, burdens had become lighter. It was a blessing for him and his son to be able to help this little old woman. Ms. Capps was the hostess and she served cake, ice cream and corn chips with drinks. Louise Petty will be hostess for the next meeting. Those attending were Jean Eaker, Lena Mai Pruitt, Frances Watts, Edna McIntosh, Pat Cunningham, Ms. Capps, Ms. Rasberry, Trudie Thornton, Joyce Stephens and Faye Passmore. |
