A driver and her passengers sustained apparently minor injuries when their vehicle collided with a semi rig late Friday night on U.S. 51 between Union City and Troy.
The crash occurred about 10:30 p.m. at the highway’s intersection with Phebus Road.
Ashley King of Union City was crossing west from Pleasant Hill Road to Phebus Road when she apparently pulled her 2012 Jeep into the path of a 2007 Volvo conventional semi driven by Joseph Stock of Ohio, who was southbound on U.S. 51, the Tennessee Highway Patrol reported.
Both the Jeep and the semi came to final rest on their right sides off the roadway, according to THP Trooper Nick Hollowell, who investigated the crash.
Ms. King and her three passengers were transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City for treatment. The THP declined to disclose the names of the juvenile passengers.
Hollowell told The Messenger Tuesday night that seat belts were being used by all those involved in the accident.
Charges were filed in the crash, but the trooper declined to specify what charges were levied.
Hollowell was assisted at the scene by THP Trooper Harold Banks, the Obion County Rescue Squad and the Obion County Sheriff’s Department.
