Tiptonville man injured in shooting
A Lake County man sustained a gunshot wound to the leg during an incident early Sunday in Union City.
Shawn Jermaine Macklin, 26, of 642 Lake St., Tiptonville, was treated at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City in connection with an incident that occurred between 4 and 5 a.m. Sunday.
The incident allegedly occurred in the East Gate Village area in the 500 block of Nash Street, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Macklin told police that he and Anthony Swift of Tiptonville were riding home from the Blue Marble club in Union City with Yonishianna Flowers, also of Tiptonville, when they got a call from Anthony Crawford of Tiptonville, who said his ride had left him and he was at East Gate.
The three apparently went to East Gate to pick him up and found a large fight under way.
According to the report, Macklin and Swift got out of the car and Macklin went into the crowd to attempt to break up the fight. He heard two gunshots while breaking up the fight.
After the fight broke up, the men got back into the car and Macklin realized he had been shot in the left leg, police reported.
Macklin and Swift told police they did not see who did the shooting and they could not tell police the names of anyone involved in the fight. Published in The Messenger 1.7.13
