Irene Hastings

Mrs. Irene Boaz Hastings, 89, of McConnell Community, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at his residence.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at McConnell Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Dowdy officiating. Burial was in East Side Cemetery in Martin.

Joe Seaton, Adrian Costea, Keven Bruner, Kevin Barnes, Joe Wade and Jerrell Doss served as pallbearers.

Mrs. Hastings was born June 26, 1923 in St. Joseph, Mo., daughter of the late John A. and Hattie Hill Boaz. She was the widow of Kenneth Earl Hastings. She was a retired register nurse, a former director of Nursing of Weakley County Nursing Home and a member of McConnell Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for more than 70 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Arant and Avonda Fabian, both of Martin; four grandchildren, Brittany (Chad) Hastings Kalas of Paris, Shannon (Ginger) Arant of Florida, Michael (Amanda) Bradberry of Trenton and Amy Bradberry Saylors of Nashville; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by twp sons, Bobby Hastings and Van Ray Hastings; and one grandson, Jayton Arant.

Memorial may be made to the McConnell Baptist Church for “The Hastings Harvest” Fund.
