Charles E. Johnson, 76, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away peacefully Dec. 24, 2012.
The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. today at Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with interment following at 2 at the Elgin (Texas) City Cemetery.
He was born Jan. 30, 1936, to parents Ex and Ivery (Williams) Johnson in Union City. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force to serve his country. On Feb. 3, 1957, he married the love of his life, the former Mary Emma Stockton, in Travis County, Texas. A few months later, he was honorably discharged from the Air Force, while serving at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin. He became a master of his craft while working for the State of Texas as a technical services manager for MH&MR in Austin. He retired from his service to the state after 30 years. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Georgetown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and three sisters of Union City.
To cherish his memory, he leaves behind his wife of more than 55 years, Mary Johnson; his son, Larry Johnson of Glen Burnie, Md.; his daughter, Pamela Haley of Mason, Texas; his sister, Margie Bradley of Union City; his granddaughter, Kristine Johnson of Glen Burnie; three grandsons, Jeremy Traynor of Georgetown and Adam Haley and Lucas Haley, both of Mason, Texas; and two great-granddaughters: Rebecca Traynor and Abigail Traynor, both of Georgetown.
