GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY — Mr. and Mrs. Sam E. Baker of Obion will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary 6-8 p.m. Saturday with a come-and-go reception at the Wynridge Golf Course club house in Troy. The event is being hosted by their children, who invite family and friends to the casual gathering. He married Brenda Kay Tanner Dec. 31, 1962, at the Weakley County Courthouse in Dresden. He is the son of the late Robert and Sara Lois Orton Baker of Troy. He is a self-employed farmer and serves as an Obion County Farm Bureau director. She is the daughter of the late LP and Mary Wilma Jenkins Tanner of Flint, Mich. She is president of the Obion County Fair Board, serves on the Obion County Public Library board and is chairman of the Obion County Farm Bureau Women. They have three daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and Dave Van Alstine of Memphis, Jenny and Brian Wilder of Obion and Carol Baker of Perry, Ga.; and a son and daughter-in-law, Robbie and Melody Baker. They have seven grandchildren. The couple requests no gifts.
