Elizabeth Moss Posted: Friday, December 21, 2012 12:42 pm The Messenger, December 20, 2012 Completed arrangements are being announced for Elizabeth Moore (Polk) Moss, 99, of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Nevis, Minn., formerly of Troy, who died in Stone Mountain at her home Dec. 14, 2012. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stan Waldon officiating. Burial will follow in Old Troy Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday. She was born May 1, 1913, in Troy, daughter of the late Franklin David and Bertha Elise (Brice) Polk. She was a 1933 graduate and salutatorian of the former Troy High School and she attended Miss Wylie’s Office Training School in Memphis, graduating in 1934 with a certificate in business management. She married David Edmond Moss June 26, 1937. They moved to Clearwater, Fla., and she was a bookkeeper for the Pinellas County Extension Agency until 1950. From then until 1973, she worked for the Pinellas County Citrus Growers Association and eventually became manger of the company’s chemical fertilizer division. Following the death of her husband, she moved to live with her daughter, Dr. Margaret Elise (Moss) Neeld in several cities, including Baldwin, Mo., Benton, Ill., Grand Forks, N.D., and Nevis. She moved to Stone Mountain in 2006 to live near her niece, Mary Elise (Polk) Vigil of Atlanta. Her hobbies included oil painting, cross stitch and crossword puzzles. She is also survived by her grandson, David Bruce Neeld of Minnetonka, Minn.; her great-grandson, Zackary Neeld of Gainesville, Fla.; two other nieces, Martha Sue (Polk) McRae of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Laura Dell (Polk) Kirk of Franklin; her nephew, James Walter Polk Jr. of Nashville; and several great nieces and great nephews. She was also preceded in death by daughter; two sisters, Jennie Harper Polk and Martha Brice (Polk) McDonald; and her brother, Dr. James Walter Polk.
