Emily Akin served as hostess. Carlyne Wheatley introduced Nancy Miller Latimer as the guest speaker. Mrs. Latimer told about her professional career and how she ended up in Union City. The bulk of the presentation addressed how affordable and available personal DNA testing is now and some of the things that can be learned from such testing. She shared how unknown relatives can be identified, as well as what degree of cousinship is likely shared and how sometimes one can learn indisputable, but surprising, information about their parentage. Mrs. Latimer also shared how one’s maternal and paternal ancestry may be extrapolated far back in time. “The vast amount of information stored in our DNA is just one more reason to give God glory for our marvelous universe,” she said. The members enjoyed Ms. Latimer’s informative and interesting program, a member said. , |
