The Martin Fine Arts Club met for its December meeting at the First United Methodist Church in Martin.
The club assembled in the parlor for the social hour with 24 members and guests present.
The hostesses, Mrs. Bob Cheeseman, Mrs. George Pritchett and Mrs. Fred Vowell served the club a Christmas dessert that was both delicious and appealing. The plate held a square of carrot cake with cream cheese icing and garnishes of a chocolate dipped cherry and a white chocolate leaf dusted with snow crystals of sugar. Accompanying this were baked pecans and hot coffee.
The club then gathered in the sanctuary that was beautifully decorated for Christmas with a Chrismon tree and poinsettias on the altar and in the windows.
This was the setting for an enjoyable program of Christmas music that was introduced by Mrs. Jim Cannon. The presenters were Kris Moore, vocalist and Andrew Moore, pianist. Kris is associated with Behavorial Health Care in Martin. Andrew Moore is the organist at First United Methodist Church and is a laboratory instructor in the Department of Biology at UTM. Kris with her beautiful soprano voice sang “Silent Night” and “The First Noel,” and Andrew played “Oh Holy Night,” arranged by Mark Hayes.
Mrs. Cannon thanked the presenters and offered them a gift from the Club.
Mrs. Lee Pritchett, President, closed the meeting and wished everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Those present, and not already mentioned, were: Mrs. John Chester, Mrs. Harold Clifton, Mrs. Joe Exum, Mrs. Lowell Fields, Mrs. Jerry Gresham, Mrs. G.T. Hall, Mrs. Michael Hinds, Mrs. Morris Liming, Mrs. Dale Overton, Mr. Bob Peeler, Mrs. James Shore, and Mrs. Sanford Truitt. Published in The WCP 12.20.12
