Martin man shot in ankle while walking
A Martin man told police he was shot in the ankle late Saturday night as he walked down Oxford Street.
Martin Patrolman Chris Finch was dispatched to Volunteer Community Hospital on Sunday morning in reference to a possible gunshot wound victim.
Terrence Carter told police he was walking down the street listening to music through headphones when he heard what he thought was a gunshot and then felt pain in his right ankle, according an incident report.
Carter told police he managed to find an unknown male reportedly somewhere around the Oxford Street area, according to the report. Carter said the unknown male took him to  a residence in the 100 block of Meadowbrook Drive.
The next morning, according to the incident report, Carter reportedly called Brittany Fulton, his next door neighbor, and told her what had happened and that he needed to be taken to a hospital.
Cell phones belonging to Carter and Fulton were retrieved for further investigation, after both gave verbal consent to investigators, according to the incident report.
The incident remains under investigation.
