On Nov. 28, we opened the service singing “Just a Closer Walk With Thee.” It was good to have some back that had been out sick. Our study was from 1 Timothy 4:10-5:18. We talked about being disciples, read the Word, ask Him questions. Don’t live on hearsay; know why you believe what you believe.

On this Lord’s Day, we had a good attendance for both Sunday school and worship hour. Our lesson was from Exodus 6:2-13 and 15:1-21 titled, “Yahweh Our God.” It begins with the name of which God reveals Himself-Yahweh-a name that shows His sovereign and powerful character.

We sang “Happy Birthday” to Ms. Alpha Belle Jackson. Others celebrating are Kelly Meeks and Josh Staples. Happy Anniversary to Butch and Judy Byars, and Roger and Pat Nesbitt.

Our songs of praise were, “Heavenly Sunlight,” “More About Jesus” and “Soon and Very Soon.” Kelly Morgan read from Luke 1:1-25 and Terry Morgan read Luke 1:26-38 for the second week of Advent. This week Kelly Meeks lit the candles. Last week, James Phillips lit the candle. Our choir sang, “Come to Deliver Me.”

Bro. Kieth’s text was from Luke 1:5-23. It was a good message. He asked us this question, “Do you believe, really believe in Jesus?” Many have a head knowledge of Jesus, not a heart knowledge.

Our evening service was canceled so that we might go to Paris to New Harmony Baptist for the live nativity.

Wednesday night we will be dismissing to go to Mayfield’s First Baptist Church’s Living Christmas Tree.

Sunday at 6 p.m., our children will be presenting “Fumbly, Cumbly Angels.” Everyone is cordially invited to attend.
