| South Fulton swept Hickman County, while Ridgemont did the same to Gibson County in local middle school basketball doubleheaders Monday night. Elsewhere, Ridgemont and Gibson County divided a pair of games, as did Hillcrest and Greenfield; and Lake Road and Black Oak. The following is a recap of those contests reported to The Messenger. Ridgemont 39, GC 23 (G) The Lady Mustangs’ shots started falling in the second half when they pulled away to beat GC. Carly Bramlett had 11 points, McClay Ferrell eight and Destiny Miller seven for the winners. Ridgemont used an 11-4 run in the third stanza to expand on a five-point halftime lead. Ridgemont 46, GC 32 (B) J.P. Jones had 10 points to lead a balanced winning Mustang scoring effort. Dalton Bridgewater and Emanuel Morgan pitched in with seven markers apiece. Ridgemont hosts Black Oak on Thursday. SF 40, Hickman Co. 36 (G) The Red Devilettes overcame poor early shooting to rally past the visiting Lady Falcons. South Fulton missed its first 15 shots from the floor but eventually heated up, finishing with five made 3-pointers. HC was not as fortunate at the line, never getting better in finishing 1-of-20 from the stripe. SF trailed 8-1 after one period and 16-13 at the half but led 27-24 at the end of three quarters. Emma Glisson scored 20 points and also had six rebounds and six assists for SF. Tiffany Potts added nine points and five boards, and Diamond Smith scored six points. The Red Devilettes improved to 6-3. SF 52, Hickman Co. 12 (B) The Red Devils scored the game’s first 20 points and never looked back in cruising to an easy triumph. Ahead 30-6 at halftime, SF had a 15-2 third-quarter spurt to bring about a host of reserves coming into the game. Jyriq Jones led the Redmen with 16 points, five rebounds and four steals, while Zaccius Mays scored 12 points and had six steals and four rebounds. Jalen Scott gave the Big Red a third double-figure scorer with an 11-point effort. South Fulton plays at Black Oak next Monday. Lake Rd. 49, BO 28 (G) Bryleigh Jennings hit for 17 points and Dharma Grinder had 10 points and was a demon on the defensive end with 11 steals as the Lady Generals completed a season sweep of Black Oak. Jenna Smith and Rachel Dunn were good for six points apiece for LR, which used a 15-2 third-quarter spurt to build a 20-point lead. Nellina Wooten had 16 points, five rebounds and four steals for the Lady Eagles. Harley Buress had six points and four rebounds. Black Oak 34, LR 19 (B) The Eagle boys salvaged a split in the nightcap as Issac Darnall scored 10 points and Brandon Swift had nine points, 12 rebounds and five seals. Chance Basham had eight rebounds, six markers and five steals, while Blake Jones had five points, five rebounds, five steals and four assists. A 17-3 third-quarter nearly doubled Black Oak’s 15-point halftime advantage. For Lake Road, Blake Huggins had 13 rebounds to go along with six points, while Thomas Mathis had a team-best seven points. Mason Davidson was credited with five rebounds. On Thursday, Black Oak visits Ridgemont, while Lake Road hosts Martin. Hillcrest 39, G’field 28 (B) Tyler Walton had 13 points and came up with five steals to help the Cougars pull away late. Hillcrest (4-4) led just 22-19 with three periods in the book before outscoring its Weakley County visitors 17-9 in the fourth. Hunter Brown had 10 points, eight rebounds and four steals to contribute to the victory, while Greg Nance contributed eight points and four steals. Hillcrest is at home Thursday to play Fulton City.
