A Union City man was injured Saturday night when he was assaulted during an alleged robbery at his home.
Joe David Wilbanks, 51, of 505 Nash St., Union City, sustained injuries in an incident that occurred about 10:40 p.m. at his apartment, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Police reported they arrived to find Wilbanks was bleeding and had sustained two cuts across the right side of his cheek.
Wilbanks told police his roommates had just left and he was sitting on the couch when four black men in their early 20s came into his apartment. He claimed the men assaulted him by hitting him in the face with a dark pistol.
The intruders took Wilbanks’ wallet, which contained his driver’s license, a bank debit card and $3 cash, according to the report.
Wilbanks, who said he did not know any of the suspects, was taken by private vehicle to the emergency room of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City for treatment.
