George T. Davis, 82, of Union City went home to be with the Lord at 6:30 a.m. Dec. 1, 2012, at his home with his wife Nancy (Owens) Yates Davis at his bedside.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. The Rev. Tommy Hall will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens, with full military honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. today.
Pallbearers will be Dale Owens, Teddy Montgomery, Danny Boyd, Ron Bates, Bobby Hill, Wayne Baker and Mark Breeden. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne McClure and George Goddard.
He served in the U.S. Air Force for 26 years, retiring with the rank of master sergeant. After his military service, he served as postmaster in Geary, Okla., for 16 years. He worked many years as a driver for Trailways Bus Line. He enjoyed this career very much as he was an avid traveler.
His greatest love was his relationship with Jesus Christ and his church family. Even when he was very ill, he did his best to attend church at First Assembly of God in Union City, where he was a member.
He is also survived by sons, Thomas A. “Tad” Davis and James Randall “Randy” Davis; his daughter, Michele Jobe; his granddaughter, Stephanie Larkins; two grandsons, Matthew Moore and Jonathan Moore; three great-grandchildren; five sisters, Wanda Hill and Ruth Collins, both of Union City, Martha Glut of Hendersonville and Juanita Byram and Linda Bird, both of Pickwick Dam; and his brother, J.D. Davis of Arlington, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George E. and Geneva Ruth (Clovis) Davis; and his brother, Kenneth Davis.
