| A woman was airlifted to a hospital after the vehicle she was traveling in ran off the road late Saturday night in Martin. Charges are pending against the driver. Martin Police Patrolman Dustin Waggener responded to a one-vehicle crash with injuries about 11:15 p.m. on Highway 431 at University Street. Upon arrival, Waggener saw a white 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck with extensive damage sitting in the bottom of a ditch off of the roadway facing west. The Martin Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene, Waggener wrote in an incident report. Four of the occupants, including the driver – Adam L. Sadler, 23 – were transported by ambulance to Volunteer Community Hospital and released a few hours later with non-serious injuries. The fifth occupant – Jordan E. Goodwin, a female student – was transported to Martin Air Evac base and airlifted to Jackson General Hospital with serious injuries, according to Waggener’s report. Two bottles of alcohol were found in the vehicle, according to Waggener’s report, which also notes that Sadler admitted he had been drinking prior to the crash. An involuntary blood sample was drawn from Sadler and forwarded to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for evaluation. Sadler faces charges of vehicular assault and first offense driving under the influence, pending blood test results. |
