UTM softball camp
slated for December The UT Martin softball team will host its annual winter exposure and skills clinic Dec. 29-30.
The two-day camp will run 2-8 p.m. Dec. 29 and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 30 at the Elam Center.
Head coach Donley Canary, his staff and current and former Skyhawk players will serve as instructors, helping develop individual skills in hitting, fielding and throwing will identifying players for the next level.
The cost is $85 per camper before Dec. 15 and $100 from that date on. The cost includes insurance, a T-shirt, a meal both days.

lauded for grades The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has rewarded UT Martin for its academic excellence during the 2011-12 year.
The Skyhawks are one of 504 women’s collegiate teams that posted a team Grade Point Average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award. UT Martin boasted a 3.20 team GPA for the 2011-12 academic season and sported 11 players on the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
In addition to its academic success, UTM has also registered its two most successful seasons in program history under head coach Phil McNamara.
The Skyhawks have made back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and won their first OVC Tournament championship (2011) and first-ever outright OVC regular season title (2012). In the process, UT Martin has broken 14 school records with a 27-13-5 record. Dresden M.S. to host
Elks free throw event The Dresden Elks Lodge local competition for the 41st Annual Elks Hoop Shoot, the national free throw shooting contest for youngsters age 8 through 13, will be held at the Dresden Middle School gym 10 a.m. Saturday.
This competition is free and open to all area youngsters between 8 and 13 years of age as of April 1, 2013.
Prizes will be awarded to first and second place in each group and all participants will receive a certificate.

winter prospect camp UT Martin will host a Winter Prospect Camp Dec. 20 and 21.
The camp, set for 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 20 is a hitting camp for high school prospects.
The pitching and catching camp for high school prospects is set for 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 21.
The cost for each camp is $75 per person. If a prospect chooses to attend both camps the cost is $125 if payment is postmarked by Dec. 17. The cost of each camp at the door will be $85 or $150 for both.
All campers will be responsible for their own lunch. Both camps will be held at the Skyhawk baseball field and the Elam Center. No cleats are allowed.
