Visitors to the 28th annual Santa’s Village charity event will have an opportunity to enjoy more than 90 entertainers from across the region — including several from Obion County. Scheduled performances include pop, country, Broadway, classical, jazz, blues and gospel musicians, in addition to dance performances and traditional Christmas music. Santa’s Village will mark its 28th anniversary Thursday through Dec. 9, continuing a tradition of giving to those in need and providing four days of family holiday entertainment. The fantasyland provides the sights, sounds and fun of Christmas each year at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Complex at the University of Tennessee at Martin. This year’s event is set for Thursday and Dec. 7 from 6-9 p.m.; Dec. 8 from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; and Dec. 9 from 1-5 p.m. Admission is a suggested donation of $5 worth of nonperishable foods and/or toys. In its 27 years, Santa’s Village has collected and donated $983,163 worth of food and toys to service agencies which help those in need in this area. Service agencies which will receive food and toys collected at Santa’s Village this year include Chimes for Charity, Northwest Tennessee Disaster Services, We Care Ministries, Santa’s Helpers and Northwest Tennessee Economic De-velopment Council. The event will return to an “Enchanted Forest” theme in scenes depicting the holidays this year. Also featured will be a giant Christmas tree, wagon rides on Friday through Sunday, MTD model train display, children’s rides and vendor booths.
