Powers to celebrate 50th anniversary

Alvin and Lou Ann Powers of Dresden will be celebrating their 50th anniversary with a reception on Sunday at Dresden First Baptist Church Family Life Center, 2-3:30 p.m.
The former Lou Ann Anderson is the daughter of the late William “Carmack and Ima Anderson of Dresden.
Mr. Powers is the son of the late Alvie and Flossie Powers of East Prarie.
The couple were married Nov. 23, 1962 at the  old Dresden First Baptist Church.
He worked as a salesman for most of his career and owned and operated Dresden Appliance Center in the 1970s.
She is retired from Dresden Elementary School after 41 years of service, where she was a first-grade teacher and also served as assistant principal.
They are the parents of two sons, Terry and Rubberta Powers of Martin and Patrick and Jackie Powers, of Dresden.
They have four granddaughters.
The Golden Anniversary event is being hosted by their children and grandchildren.
The couple requests no gifts, please.
All family and friends are invited.
