Martin Rotarians prep for largest scholarship fund raiser of the year | | Posted: Friday, November 30, 2012 12:00 pm
| Martin Rotary will host its annual Ham Breakfast Dec. 8 from 6-11 a.m. at Martin Elementary School on South College. Martin Rotarians encourage all in the community to join them for breakfast. The ham breakfast is the club’s main fund raiser throughout the year. “Much hard work goes into making this event a success,” president Roger Walker said. “Our motto is ‘Service Above Self’ and a successful ham breakfast helps us exemplify making a difference in our community.” Martin Rotary donates approximately $15,000 every year to the local community and awards several Rotary scholarships each year to Martin Westview students. The Martin Rotary Club also sponsors the UT Martin Rotaract Club at the University of Tennessee at Martin, and the Westview High School Interact Club. Through the club’s efforts in combination with the city of Martin, they have built two pavilions at the City of Martin Regional Sports Complex and have installed water fountains at several parks around our city. Jill Dinning, Martin Rotary ham breakfast chairwoman, encourages everyone to buy a ticket and attend the breakfast. “I would invite everyone to stop by and have breakfast before going to visit Santa’s Village that Saturday,” she said. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 6 years old and younger. The menu will include country ham, biscuits, hash browns, eggs, coffee, milk and juice. Takeout orders will be available. Tickets are on sale by Rotarians and can also be purchased at JJ’s Quick Shop. If there are questions regarding the event, please call Dinning at (731) 587-5841. Published in The WCP 11.29.12 | | | |
